Malacañang Memorandum: No Work at Government Offices and College Classes Suspended at 1PM, August 2, 2011
Malacanang Palace had issued a memorandum (Memorandum Circular No.17) suspending college classes and government office work starting 1 PM today, August 2, 2011 in the entire National Capital Region due to the continuous rain and the rise of flood waters in many areas in Metro Manila.
However, key public services should stay put. Here's the official statement from the palace:
Upon the recommendation of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and in view of the continuing inclement weather brought about by Typhoon "Kabayan," work in government offices and classes in college level in the Nation Capital Region are hereby suspended today, 2 August 2011 from the 1:00pm onwards.
However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital public services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.
